Brief description of the project:
A HYPOTHETICAL FABRIC THAT CHALLENGES THE CAPITALIST MODE OF LIVING.
The city no longer fulfills its inhabitants, daily experiences have become repetitive and deprive the human of an organic and natural life. People have become disengaged from the desires of materialism, its sources and all that is attached to it i.e. the workplace. Thus, a new fabric is formed over the city, a new unrestricted environment that allows for one to pursue creative and uninhibited activities, that of which pose as a challenge to the capitalist social and economic system by introducing an alternative form of life. As an attempt to manifest a theoretical proposal, Ludic Landscape is heavily influenced by the strategies imposed in The New Babylon, an artistic vision by Constant Nieuwenhuys, and Johan Huizinga’s explorations into Homo Ludens, the playing man.
