Singularity_ : impressions of an era to come
Singularity : impressions of an era to come is a computer-generated, artistic abstraction of the technological singularity to come. The film portrays concepts central to the idea of technological singularity, artificial consciousness, artificial sentience, and morality. Generative art, sound generation, and audio recording were all involved in creating the piece. I believe unifying the disciplines of computation, architecture, and music yields a perspective on art that is highly relevant in the present-day and future.
As a computer scientist and jazz musician with interests in architecture and videography, I enjoy exploring the intersection between these practices. Using the computer as a medium, I aim to produce work that discusses technology’s relationship to the human and questions what we define to be organic or natural. The use of digital/artificial tools as a means to evoke inherently organic human feeling is a challenge I apply to my study of computer science, artificial intelligence, architecture and art. The boundary between artificial and organic matter is continually permeated and deformed and I see importance in discussing how this effects contemporary thought and living.
