A Wearable Wonderland: Wearable Art by Carina Hardy
RAINCLOUD
This wearable artwork explores a dreamlike state of walking with a raincloud. The headpiece was engineered through deconstruction a chicken basket and curating a careful balance of Swarovski crystals, that dance when caught by light, and plastic beads to remedy the immense weight.
Materials: deconstructed bamboo chicken basket; tulle; plastic beads; Swarovski crystals
BURNING MAN DRESS
This wearable artwork was created to wear at Burning Man. Inspired by the idea of expression and compression this three piece construction is made up of a metallic linen tunic, overlaid with organza and falling pleated tule, topped with a rope construction. Each piece can be worn individually but the look is strongest when compiled together.
FLOWER DRESS Collaboration with Pablo Zalaquett
The term nature is very problematic, due to the fact that nature is too often seen as a virgin and pristine wilderness completely divorced from mankind, which enhances the tendency of seeing nature and culture as distinct forces. This wearable architecture piece explores the liminal space between man and nature
Materials: bass wood and hyacinth flowers
