Go! Architecture is a students competition organized by the students association of FAUP in which the participants have to present a project in 48 hours.
For Luca Bosco and Marco Formenti, having a project in the heart of Porto’s old and medieval city, the fragments from the history were very important to define where to implant their building.
From the medieval tower and the remaining nearby arcades, they were able to redefine the hierarchy in the public space, generating a small square.
This square had a scale that facilitates the definition of the entry to the new building, being important for the transition to the main public space.
The decision to valorize the immense basement, where the Cathedral is settled, made possible to draw a garden in a lower platform and also define the drawing of Pena Ventosa street.
The height of the walls wants to recall the presence of the old walls that once existed near this place.
The building organization aims to ensure living space in the upper level, an cafeteria with its own terrace and a view to the garden and three cells projected to the public space .
