Brief Description of the project:
Tor Fiscale’s district develops in an area enclosed by historical and modern infrastructures. Its boundary is constituted by the archeological elements such as Felice aqueduct and Claudio aqueduct and the important road Appia Nuova. The district is inserted in a particularly rich urban context thanks to ecological elements as the Parco degli Acquedotti, Parco della Caffarella, and very important historical and archaeological remains as the Parco delle Tombe Latine and, not far, the magnificent vestiges of via Appia Antica. Next to the antique, adjacent to the new, Tor Fiscale results to be an important center of architectural and urban interest.
Ab Imis Fundamentis is a project that goes to the deepest bases of the historical and architectural memory with the aim of identifying the reasons that support the intervention of requalification created for the district of Tor Fiscale in the city of Rome. It want to an idea of border between the themes of landscape and of living, but at the same time it represent an important archaeological intervention. Extricating between illegal building, environmental degradation and a system without services for the community, Ab Imis fundamentis is designed as a comb capable of overcoming all obstacles and untie every knot. The main objective is to bring back to light the hidden beauty of this place and with it the ancient Via Latina (historical consular road of Rome) where, exactly like a spinal column, leaning all public interventions and, from which branch a series of greenways around which develops the new residential area.
A modern dock built on a solid foundation. In particular, the two public interventions that are designed concern a new kindergarten and a neighborhood market. These projects, designed in compliance with the local building resources, inspired by the characters and the formal construction of the existing historical built along the route. From the archetype of the Roman forum until the monumentality of the ancient tombs, these iconographic and morphological references attempt to present itself as a bridge between what was and what we wish it were.
