The last months were a mass experiment in terms of living and working. We tried to create a community that can carry out its daily activities in a safe and encourage interaction between generations while limiting it to a face-to-face one.
The plan is developed as a continuous story: mixing 3 types of apartments for 2, 3 and 4 residents for a total of 40 residents. The working space was included into the intimacy of homes, giving the opportunity to close it with curtains or foldable doors to keep it as a private space. These “movable walls” allow the residents to change the space according to future needs, as keeping the same layout for a long “pandemic” period can become frustrating. The zoom-in plan unveils a space for 4 people: a duplex, an apartment developed on 2 floors that separates the living and working areas from the sleeping/private area. The corridor works as an inside-out terrace and concedes the freedom of an “enclose” space through-out curtains. The roof terrace works as a place for outdoor activities and a relaxed atmosphere without feeling constrained by the current situation.
Keeping the social distance while allowing visible interactions was a rule of the entire design.
