-FINALIST of SOCIAL DISTANCING HOUSING BLOCK Competition
The project is a modular student dormitory which consists of forty 5m*5m*3m residential modules and a central core tube.
In daily safety state, it is similar to the general building structure. Users enter the residential area from the core tube and disperse at the gate of each floor.
Under the condition of isolation during the epidemic, each module in the residential area will be moved horizontally and vertically. Residential modules spread out in all directions to form a split-level state between modules. The original centralized traffic flow is transformed into the decentralized traffic that can lead to the user’s respective residential modules, so as to reduce the aggregation. After the change of the residential area, the height difference between the modules forms an outdoor space for users to do some activities. Meanwhile, it can provide users with social opportunities in isolated state while keeping a safe distance. At the same time, the roof is covered with green plants to regulate the microclimate.
The residential module covers two different kinds of single residential space, which is full of sunshine. Each module contains cleaning, rest, storage, learning, physical exercise and kitchen functions, which can meet the needs of users’ daily learning life.
