In a result of the mining process, a man took away a part of natural landscape. In the same time, a new form of a landscape was created, an industrial landscape represented by quarries. An empty volume of a quarry symbolizes a “phantom mountain” lost because of human activity.
The goal of the concept is to reverse this process, thus to recreate a “lost part of landscape” with a manmade surface repeating a shape of the mountain that used to exist. This surface consists of colorful cords stretched between a ground, metal frames and top of the rock wall, a visible border between natural and industrial landscapes. This construction refers to a principle structure of traditional machines used for textile manufacturing.
A new volume plays a role of an ephemeral pavilion, a landscape interior where a visitor can observe surrounding nature through a colorful translucent screen. A metal arch frames an image created by an overlay of manmade and natural landscape, symbiosis between human and nature.
