Rethinking the monument in 2020 means rethinking its function in a scenario subjected to continuous and rapid movement, but also the formal features with which it is grafted within that scenario. This intervention is aimed at maintaining the physical and material character of the monument, that unicum within the urban fabric and beyond. However, within consolidated, multisensory, full fabrics and landscapes, the monument takes possession of the soil as a singularity stripped of any characterization. Being formally bare at a formal level, it is imposed as an ancestral return to the totem. As it is above all apparently bare of any social, political, cultural characterization, it becomes the tabula rasa in which to recognize oneself as a multitude of the world, its repetition in different scenarios makes it universal.
