When designing in general, there is a tendency to simplify the complexity of the things that we are working with. We strive to create strong, clean and simple designs which are easy to understand and communicate. By doing so, it becomes possible for others to get to the specific information they need with as little effort as possible. But this mindset also reduces design elements to simple generic blocks which can be used over and over gain – most of the time thoughtlessly. While this makes the design process faster and reduces errors along the way, it also attacks individuality. The idea of unique characters and diversities becomes less important or even simply vanishes.
The purpose of this project was therefore to investigate how a particular dwelling can be translated and communicated through drawing.
