-FINALIST of SOCIAL DISTANCING HOUSING BLOCK Competition
The core of the housing block is a ring of private capsules for couples or small families. The capsules host the sleeping areas and the private belongings. They can move in vertical direction through the building so any additional vertical connection is obsolete. There is no need to share space with other inhabitants, but it is always possible to connect with them in various situations.
The ground floor hosts the bathrooms and the private outdoor space, it is also the connection between the city and the capsules. The first floor hosts the living and working spaces which can be connected or separated by partition walls. The second floor is for sports at the outside and cooking at the inner parts of the building. The top floor can be used as a roof garden. There are private beds and community spaces to enjoy the sun.
The higher you get inside the building, the easier you can keep distance to other couples and families. Therefore, there are more walls at the bottom at the building for separation.
In quarantine you always have your private space and the house “grows” whit the healthiness of the inhabitants.
