SIEIDI is the new Landmark of Rovaniemi placed at the summit of Ounasvaara, bonding the Sky and the Finland Forest with the Finnish people and their Culture. Manifesting the legacy of the indigenous Sami art and worship to their Finnish mythology, in respect with the sacred landscape of Lapland.
Project Type:
The intervention prioritizes the ground level as the Forest realm, juxtaposing the program of the Sieidi in two levels. Hoovering above the ground, the volume of the Hotel shelters the area inviting the wildlife approaching to the site. Maintaining a safe distance and respecting the clear boundaries between the animal and the human activities.
Underground, the Creative Hub inspires from nature, witnessing casual meetings and interactions from curious animals attracted by natural and artistic events. From the atelier performances and crafting, to the food smells and the refreshing water pond.
The creative area acts as a white canvas, enhancing the free expression, creativity and movement of the artists with adjustable compositions of the diaphanous space. Assisting the cultural exchange and promoting the flexibility between the design activities and their spaces.
During the night, the Dancing Soul’s bath the space thought the skylights, bringing dynamism and engaging the beautiful spectacle of the sky in the Panorama steps, meeting point for social reunion and sky observation.
At the heart of the SIEIDI, inside the sensorial space of the museum, the Sieidi beats the synergy between the landscape, the residents and the visitors, cornerstone of the hole shared experience.
