The project reflects the waterfront of Vistula river in Toruń, city in Poland. The area is a neglected and wild part of the city but with great natural values. The designed area is located in a natural landscape area Natura 2000, which is the environment of many protected species of birds. The problem of the space is lack of access for local people to the west side of waterfront and no recreational paths and usage of the space. On the other side, the area is a wildlife habitat. The project reflects how to redevelop the waterfront for usage of local people with focus on protecting the nature.
Project Type:
The concept is based on the intensification of attractions around the south east side, Port Zimowy and slowly dispersing them along with the distance to the west. It allows for taking care of the natural environment. The whole area spanned to 10 km, is connected by natural and educational paths of sufficient width to ensure freedom of passage. In the area of Krowieniec, wooden footbridges are proposed, which enable exploration of the area. They also lead to fishing positions by water reservoirs and there are also hiding places next to them, thanks to which we have the opportunity rest by the road and bird watching. The designed area is located in a valuable natural area Natura 2000.
