The story of my project takes place in the future. Due to the abuse of resources and the more serious conflict with the natural environment and creatures, humans cannot continue to live on land, A self-sufficient utopian city with submarine volcanoes as its energy center was established. This project is a reflection on the current issue of energy and source consumption, and the relationship between natural environment and wildlife.
The new city will try to integrate into the underwater world, instead of changing or adding something to change the original environment. So, what I have done is to stand in ocean creature’s perspective to consider the design. The docking station (energy center) is built up by single unit, they overlap randomly just like a free growing coral. Also, the dwellings are movable, they have jellyfish liked shell to help cover and move, and the dwelling itself is organic shape like natural cave, which can be easily reminiscent of the ocean.
