This project focuses on creating ideas about envisioning future communities with urban technologies blended with nature and reflections of it through urban healing impacts on citizens of Shenzhen. More focally, the project site and our proposal give clues of future scenarios on creating this impact on a community of internationally connected innovators and start-ups.

According to the declarations of official institutions, the cities will get more crowded, and this will affect the new urban forms as well as the new way of creating spaces to live and work. Only a human centred approach blended with the nature in an environmental sustainability manner and surely the integration of innovative technologies into our lives can be taken into consideration to redesign our smart cities in a sustainable, carbon neutral, safe and equitable way for different groups of people among our communities. So, technology with nature, urban life with rural and modernity with tradition is the main approach of this project.

As a methodology, to follow this approach, firstly we need to think about how we can reduce the carbon footprint, reduce the buildable areas, and surely build less. At this case, reducing building and reusing the existing built environment in an adaptive way can be a sustainable option to create less carbon footprint. So, we need to extend the lifespan of our buildings through adaptability and create long term structures to accommodate our spaces to fit in. At this point a modular option and a free layout plan approach can be successful. So, we will build less, reuse the existing and adapt first.

Another important issue is the construction methods of creating spaces must leave less carbon footprint to nature, so from production of the construction materials and delivering them to site and erecting them must be achieved in a sustainable manner. Local materials and natural renewable sources can be an optional way of creating building materials and using natural building construction techniques is a must have here to create this sustainably, environmentally friendly construction system.

In this project, the site area is concentrated more on innovators and start up communities blended with technology, and we define different urban zones with different atmospheres and try to create thematic communities for different programs and users. The study area is thought like a campus area that is serving for this productive and creative community and a future favourite worldwide spot for a good kickstart at their careers programmed with amenities like coworking spaces, interactive forum areas, open Labs, and shared offices.

The interconnectivity and innovative solutions for this urban co living is a main approach which is enriched with the connected existing & connected green areas and water sources that is reaching the other parts of the site area and healing the whole city with urban acupuncture approach. In this approach the urban vision is achieved with this connected growing green and water all along the city and reaching the other parts of the town so that the whole city is healed and become a sustainable place to live and accommodate the whole community in an equal way.

The future community will live better when they touch the green more. While doing that the elevated structures attached to the existing buildings enables to create public spaces, urban vista points, sometimes on upper levels and all those are connected to each other with pedestrian walkways, bicycles and shared electric bikes and scooters to create the flow of the transportation and fluidity of the movement at the city. The down below area is redesigned for the use of community.

All vehicular access is taken under control at the entrance and important points of the site and allows people to park their cars and only use electrical personal vehicles and public transportation with shared vehicles.

Using renewable energy resources, waste management, producing own food, preserving the quality of clean water, cloud harvesting, and urban management policies are the main focal points in the management of this smart city and community. Therefore, again only a human centred approach and extending the greenery areas to other parts of the city can be one of the good options of envisioning this future community as in urban acupuncture approach.
