Autonomous Civic Space explores the future relationship between architecture, community, and streetscape by proclaiming a new social order and system of measure of community. Using Shenzhen, Nanshan district as a unique hub of young entrepreneurs and innovators, the project reveals how a community can boost its innovation, the identity of belonging and family value through active engagement, gamification and exploitation of fully automated mobility in individual, community and urban scales.
Architecturally, Autonomous Civic Space has three main design strands:
- Urbanism and Master planning. Through adapting the new mobility model in future vehicles and architecture, the new urban typology is studied to best accommodate the gamification and fluidity of community life.
- Mobility Design. The project itself is a complex design project changing constantly; all the environments, vehicles and interaction systems are mutually influential.
- Building Design. The future buildings maximise their public access by opening parts of their volumes to allow dynamic land use at different times.
