There is a real question 💭 as to what to do with the shuttered rigs, which can provide a safe home to ocean life 🐠. Oil platforms 🛢️ typically lie far from shore 🔭, so they are protected from the water pollution that empties into the ocean.
Naturally, not everyone is wild about leaving the skeletons 💀 of oil platforms to rust in the ocean. Critics say it lets companies off the hook for cleanup by making the state liable for the remains of decommissioned 🏗️ oil platforms.

From a distance, it looks like just another offshore PLATFORM, an artifact of the modern industrial landscape. But beneath the waves, the rigs in the area are home to a vast and thriving community of sea life that some scientists say is one of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet.
5. THE DAZZLING OCEAN REEFS HIDDEN 🌫️ BENEATH OFFSHORE OIL RIGS
Oil is bad for sea life ☠️. Except sometimes it’s not 🤯. That’s because the legs and bracings holding up oil PLATFORMS are the ideal setting for ocean reefs. Fish like to gather around 🦑 the pylons, which are covered in mussels, barnacles and corals.

Keeping decommissioned oil rigs in the water is a growing trend 📈, giving rise to some of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet. Could this be an ANSWER to the environmental and economic difficulties oil companies face with the decommissioning of rigs? 💭
