-FINALIST of Re-Draw.04: Centre Pompidou Competition
Built back in 1977, designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers winners at competition from 1971, the Center Pompidou is an extremely “complex and mad” idea in the words of its creators. Тhe center has been subject of controversy for many years. The authors share that it took 15 years for the citizens of Paris to understand and approve the building.
The collage “Invasion in Paris” wants to illustrate that paradigm of time. Representing Pompidou Center as a structure that’s foreign to the cityscape. A structure which seems to come from another world and invades the city gradually, bit by bit interweaving its roots – the iconic colored installation tubes. The only task left is to land on the square. Where it’s going to continue slowly its invasion to the hearts and minds until it becomes what it is today – the most visited building in Paris.
The Center Pompidou is a symbol of cultural change and it’s a proof that buildings can outrun human perception and the time they were built.
