-HONOURABLE MENTION of Non Architecture Award 2022 Competition | Category: Aspatial & Virtual
The architectural design of the Museum of Emotions focuses on the presentation of two separate exhibition rooms that bring out contrasting emotions.
The spaces are designed in such a way that their viewers have different impressions; offices can make them feel energetic and productive, sports halls give them an adrenaline rush, and museums can make them feel calm and intrigued. Each of these spaces is completely different from each other and is more than just a building. The architect’s task is to use architecture as the basic tool for creating emotional states by considering the scale of individual elements, travel through space, color, intensity of light and choice of materials.
The presentation of two different emotions in architecture was designed on the basis of the contrast in form, style and material used. The form of the building will consist of two rectangular blocks connected by a connector in the middle. Thanks to this, the recipient immediately notices the division between two separate emotions. The difference between the solids will only be visible in the building cladding material.
The first room uses a monumental, vertical style with the use of light and prefabricated reinforced concrete elements with an equal division and a module. The second room is abstract and asymmetrical with strong chiaroscuro and uneven divisions. Each of these rooms will additionally represent different types of art exhibitions.
The project aims to investigate the extent to which architecture can be used as a tool to evoke emotions.
