The park is synonymous with Banja Luka, it would, perhaps be one of the most recognisable and beautiful feature – sitting at the edge of Vrbas river, embracing with landmarks that showcase its rare beauty and reinforce its relevance around the country. As a continuation of iconic destinations connected by the uninterrupted promenade along the water’s edge, the new Banja Luka Park will carry on with the legend of Vrbas River.
The approach is to connect with surrounding environment is embedded in the thinking from the outset, from the existing grassland to the Vrbas River, the story, the experience, and the space continues to extend and spread. The idea also has been designed to connect with future developments and considerations to the east and west, with footbridge or cycling bridge options, it establishes an integrated and cohesive public realm for the broader Banja Luka community in accordance with the local government strategic planning.
The design is inspired by the irregular shape, uneven relief characteristics of the site, the surrounding natural contextual factor, and the history of the city of Banja Luka, which creates a multi-functional social landscape hub, it is generally comprised of a series of open social spaces with a main focus in a pivot point, seamlessly connected to each zones and boundaries. The design capitalizes on the opportunity to link the water with the land to the east, and the surrounding community with this cultural icon.
