The goal of our project is to offer a temporary accomodation or housing (that may be permanent, as the developed model can be used in numerous situations.) As well as multifunctional, with modular interior design, which allows the user to express personality in the given space.
Our concept came with the idea of making the war refugees’ experience less traumatising and akward. Since their lives become uncertain as they leave their homes. We offer a housing proposal that can be temporary or permanent, which can give these peoples peacefull rest and provide a belonging sense, a confortable shelter where anyone can look for a fresh start.
This idea not only applies to people who live this specific reality, but also to those who want new experientes, who seek accomodation without giving up feeling part of the space, as if they where at home.
The proposed structure works on the sustainability, using colled containers, that are easily available and work in many different weathers. This type of container is projected with refrigeration systems to ship perishables goods across the globe, when regulated its temperature may range from – 25°C to 25°C, helped by polyurethane foam in the walls, which is commonly used as acoustic and thermic insulation. Using it for construction allows an economy of resources such as water, sand, bricks, iron, wood and any other material frequently used on mansory and wood buildings.
As for the interior design, the use of modules was conceived for the user as they make it possible to personalize the space in a intuitive way, making that space complementary for the person living in the house, not otherwise. The modulation was made dividing the container internal space by cm2 and we came up with 0,57×0,57m modules, that uses 99% of the internal space. To make the customization viable and funcional all the modules, except the toilet area, have in-built wheels and a locking system, so they may be relocated without effort. The standardization of the modules makes possible many different layouts, enhancing the feeling of belonging and home, as the interior can be changed according to the persons’ desire. Other than working on the functionality of the furniture project, we worked on customizable ceiling lighting that may be changed to adequate the modules distribution.
The diversity of options is not limited to the inside of the given space, as it expands to the outside and makes possible the development of commom areas, such as laundries, restaurants and leisure spaces. Due to its great loading capacity, the containers can be arranged in many ways, enabling the creation of housing complexes, layed horizontally or even on top of one another, vertically.
Considering all aspects, we present this project. A creative household, that can assambled quickly and help people in a very critic moment on their lives. Customizable, comfortable and with all effort to make it more than just a house, but also a home.
