Blooming Petals

TEAM: Sooyeon Ahn (South Korea), Woojung Kim (South Korea)

The office as a space of the mental work will gain vitality by thinking.

Thinking is the power source of the office movement.

Thinking will be the centre of the world.

There will be no firmed companies on the ground.

The organisations will occur and perish around the thinking.

When you are thinking, Blooming office will come close to their living spaces to absorb the ideas. When you enter the Blooming office, you can see your ideas are flying through the special lighting layers. A colleague may obtain a new idea from a fragment of your thinking petals. In the Blooming office, it is hard to detach thinking from your life. When you are walking, sleeping, talking, and eating, thinking petals will be blowing out from you into space. It could become a Blooming house for you rather than the office.

What do you need to think?

your computer? with the Internet connection? maybe your phone?

tablet? table? lamp? your notebook to write your thoughts?

pressure

time

deadline

race

digitization
automation
computerization

it’s all overwhelming

the most important is:

THOUGHT

IDEA

CONCEPT

What do you need it’s just a free space.

Our proposal of an issue of thinking its a project of a space where  you can isolate yourself from too many stimuli.

Listening to oneself…keeping calm…contact with nature……stimulates the process of creative thinking.

Though various placement of a hole user’s eye is directed at elements of nature.

We spend more and more time on modern technologies,

at the same moment we cannot forget that creativity is the domain of people

The modules can be placed in various places in the city.

Do you wanna come in? let’s start thinking.

Work on yourself

We decided to reverse life priorities

And what if the office is inside you? And it only works if you are happy.

We believe in the search of a purpose, in the search of the deep and genuine happiness, in what turns you on. If not, why are we here? That’s what life is about.

We introduce a little device located in the electronics that are meant to work. It will measure the endorphin, serotonin and dopamine levels of the workers, allowing them to use their work tool only if the levels of that hormones are the right ones. And what are the right levels? Enough to be happy.

So people will be forced to do what makes them trully happy, otherwise they will not be able to work.

But what about the cycles, the up and downs, the crisis from which we all learn from? Will that be permitted? Is it posible to become a slave of happiness?

Ctrl-Alt-Del

TEAM: Martyn Tinto, British, The Royal College of Art / The Glasgow School of Art

We live in a world where we process 43 million terabytes of digital data everyday. We find ourselves becoming lost in an intangible environment consumed by digital data. The metropolis is expanding at an exponential rate overwriting the green zone due to the effects of population growth. We now live in a time where humans have not experienced the natural world outside the metropolis. With these effects the amount of data the world is producing is increasing exponentially which is consuming humans in order to process, now known as data processors, creating a detrimental impact on the mental state of the human mind. A process known as Ctrl-Alt-Del has now been implemented to increase productivity and to improve the mental state of humans. The State Government has issued all participating data processors an implant that is able to create an alternative environment. This process takes place every hour for each data processor allowing them to enter an alternative environment simulation to experience natural life outside the metropolis that they have never experienced before while the past hour is deleted in order for the data processor to be recalibrated for continuous data processing.

The Post-Office

The future of the office typology is that it simply will not exist at least not within the parameters of our current understanding of the office as a physical space to process, organize, and generate information. The Great Recession demonstrated the inherent precariousness of the American economic system; gradual collapse of Western neoliberalism coupled with swiftly advancing artificial intelligence and automation will render obsolete our prevailing ideology of work.

The notion of a world liberated from the culture and ubiquity of work is not new; this concept has been intermittently asserted throughout the history of modern capitalism. However, this vision appeared just out of reach until the relatively recent proliferation of AI technologies. What precisely will happen in the post-work, post-office future? Perhaps consumption, excess, and leisure would overtake our daily lives, and AI will take on our jobs. Perhaps the absence of work would make space for creative pursuits, enhancing our cultural productivity. Perhaps work is so profoundly embedded in our mode of operation that we would simply invent new forms of work for the sake of work. The Post-Office is a visual speculation on various aspects of these prospective realities.

The 7 chakras

Om is the self within. Om is knowledge. Om is the truth of the universe.

To change the world one must first change himself. It is only from within that the change can come. But how can one change himself? How can he break free from the norms society dictates? It is innovation to think outside the box, but what if you can think beyond the box itself?

To change the way you think you must search within yourself to find the Om. Through meditation and self-reflection one can ascend the staircase of the 7 chakras that leads to supreme awarness.

Muladhara [Root]

Swadhisthana [Sacral]

Manipura [Solar Plexus]

Anahata [Heart]

Vishuddha [Throat]

Ajna [Third Eye]

Sahasrara [Crown]

What it means though to reach Sahasrara? Knowledge? Understanding? Something completely different? A person will be forever changed everytime he unlocks a chakras and in the end as it is said:

“What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you create”

Accelerating the relation of human and technology in office spaces.

Our proposal aims to channel the oppurtunities of technological progress for the future crowd-working society. Essential is the understanding of our design as a public infrastructure. Principles of Open Source, the open display of content, and collaborative working are integral components of our structure. Several layered infrastructures are woven into a shelf, such as the physical exchange and cache of objects, the digital infrastructure, the human circulation and electric, plumbing and air streams. The automated storage system in the center of the shelf guarantees the physical exchange and covers elevator functions. It is directly linked to existing and future logistical infrastructures of the city, such as automated robot and drone mail systems, creating a storage of high fluctation. Similar facilities throughout the city and even the world can specify on various types of work and provide a decentralized network to the crowd, creating possibilities for new models of common property to evolve. The shelf also functions as a local data center, where servers provide heat to the community. The surrounding spaces are interacting with the shelf in different ways, enabling direct production and thinking lines to the crowd network.

Finding Psyche

Earlier the thoughtless creature used to find an excuse of lethal work for not to think. The clear line between working and living was dividing the creature. It made him question his existence.

His curious existence was in danger. After a long waste of time many creatures came together, formed a new system that challenged the conventional economic system. In the new system ‘break’ is the new work. The break to explore the passion, to embrace the self, to travel the world, to rest and to breathe. Now he could think what he wanted to think and do what he wanted to do. The idea of DOT and DASH took a birth to get connected to CIRCLE which has been decentralised all over the world. DASH identifies the thoughts, DOT notifies them and CIRCLE stores all. The circle awards creatures for their thoughts. The system documents thoughts which is the most precious strength of the thoughtless creature which was vanishing. The idea started with the horror of fading individualism on which they reached where they reached. The circle encourages them to create, to rejuvenate and just to BE.

Now they are following the process of finding…

a Nebula of Coded Protocols

Offices every day evaporate, their spatial footprint lessening slowly, becoming intangible, nebulous forms. When stripped of its space, an office is a code of professional behavior, a system of implemented and quantifiable productivity, a protocol.

In the now of the Quantified Self, where people are addressed as sums of data to be analyzed and used, intellectual work is another resource to be measured and harnessed. Thought is above all a biological function with its own patterns, so by monitoring the human body and aligning it to optimal values, we can achieve consistency and efficiency in the thought process.

Every professional framework runs its own protocol, one that needs to be communicated to and implemented by every employee. For this purpose, understanding the limitations of human anatomy, a biometric organ is added to the human physiology. Active every second of the workday, in close proximity and with direct connection to the human body, the organ is adaptive to the environment and patterns of its host, but moreover guides the employees every step of their workday to meet the required quotas set by the protocol.

Through this surveillance system the employer is aware of the performance of each cyborg.
