LET’S GET MOVING
Mon, May 18, 2020
It’s been weeks and weeks within our four walls, we can’t take it anymore!
We want to go for a walk, visit places, travel. The question is: How? How is it going to work? How can we encourage sustainable mobility in this new situation?
1. HOW TO REDESIGN URBAN MOBILITY
Mobility is what makes a city: it allows its density, diversification, visibility. Due to COVID-19, nearly 90% of the public transport is reduced in most cities, and it may never go back to normal. But what is normal has changed, and we will face a very different public demand, starting with SHARED MOBILITY.
2. NEW MOBILITY HABITS
In most part of the world pollution has decreased to its lowest levels, quite an encouragement to actually change our view on the whole mobility issue. The new habits we are taking now will likely stick for some time, so LET’S MAKE THE MOST of this moment.
3. BARCELONA’S EXAMPLE
Barcelona is leading the way in finding new solutions to allow its citizens TO TAKE BACK THE CITY in safety. Big portions of its streets are being reallocated for pedestrian use, by substituting parking areas with bike lanes and wider pavements.
4. SHOPPING SPREE
Groceries shopping for some people has risen to a whole different experience, one to look forward to and prepare for. Some other have relied entirely on delivery services, not taking any step outside. Which are THE PROS AND CONS for each solution?
5. ON THE FLY
REVERSE SEATING could be an option to allow the usual plane capacity. Another option is a simple seat shield. It could actually be the solution to curious travel neighbours as well.
This is a week of celebrations for Non Architecture: our Instagram reached 20k, and our JOURNAL Instagram reached 10k! We’ve also launched on our socials the vote to choose the cover of our next book, dedicated to RE-DRAW.01: CASA DA MÚSICA. The vote is open until next Wednesday May 20th at 20:00 CET.
Let’s fly away!
