– HONOURABLE MENTION of Manhattan Wildscraper Competition
Manhattan is the commercial, cultural and financial center of New York. Before the city gained this identity, it was a region dominated by nature and human settlement was limited, but today it has become a city belonging to many iconic structures. Natural space is limited, even man-made. Manhattan context is a place far from nature and unnatural, man made and designed. In this context, the main actor is skyscrapers. In Manhattan, human routines are the way between home and work, and where we go to socialize. This routine is not intertwined with nature. Where we live and work are not part of nature. The project brings together nature and topography throughout the floors. Rational structure regulates dwellings and circulation, envelops irrational nature. The housing units can move vertically within the building and thus the desired nature level can be reached. The project brings the experience of living in the countryside to the city.
