Since the inception of the skyscraper, they’ve been a relatively static typology. Compared to the variation of a city street, skyscrapers don’t reflect the varying functions and activities housed in their form. Typology tower seeks to remedy the monotony of skyscrapers by implementing the sensibilities of city streets in the vertical dimension. Organized around a vertical garden core, the facility is able to provide fresh produce for inhabitants and extra for the people of New York, Using a workforce of robots to harvest the crops. Our proposal houses multiple program modules including commercial (retail, food services), one-person residential, standard residential, and office. Between the program modules, gaps are left that are filled with urban terraces. Allowing for the outdoor circulation experience of a city street to be taken up to the skyscraper level. Trees and native vegetation dominate these spaces allowing for biodiversity and urban parks for the occupants to enjoy. The urban parks also function as areas for the heat generated from the vertical farm core to be exhausted. Typology tower seeks to bring vertical urban planning and bio- sustainability into a single project, through what has been described above. Through our efforts, we hope the project will facilitate a more sustainable way of living.
