NonA Weekly: CREATIVITY IS EVERYWHERE
Dear readers and friends,
One more turn around the sun, and here we are to pump up your creativity!
Creativity can take different shapes and forms, and one of the most influential factors in architectural design is creativity.
As creators, we all go through stages of creativity. Some phases are more severe than others, but getting emotionally involved is, in most cases, unavoidable. In many cases, the emotional intensity of design can be so intense, it begins to resemble another well-known emotional process – one that generally includes the stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Design may not literally be as difficult as losing a loved one, but it’s little coincidence that in the architecture profession, one’s best concepts are often referred to as their “babies,” and any design process will involve a fair amount of letting them go.
1. FACTORS AFFECTING CREATIVITY IN THE ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION PROCESS BASED ON COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN
This research hypothesized that computer-aided design, experience, sketching, physical modeling, learning environment, and images and visual references can serve as powerful tools to stimulate CREATIVITY in the architectural design process.
2. HOW THE 7 ELEMENTS OF ART SHAPE CREATIVITY
Line, color, shape, form, value, space, and texture are the seven core ELEMENTS of art and they often overlap and inform one another. Whether talking about drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, or design, these components of art all need to be taken into consideration.
3. SIMPLE WAYS TO SPARK YOUR CREATIVITY
Ted Talks have compiled an entire PLAYLIST presenting easy, straightforward techniques to jumpstart innovative thinking and surface new, brilliant ideas.
4. 5 STAGES OF CREATIVITY THAT ARCHITECTS EXPERIENCE WITH EVERY PROJECT
To paraphrase the existing psychological literature, “as long as there is creativity, there is hope. As long as there is hope, there is creativity.” So join us as we explore the architect’s path through the five stages of CREATIVITY experienced in any design process.
5. WHAT IS CREATIVITY?
What is creativity? That is a leading QUESTION simply because creativity can manifest itself in many forms. Creativity has more to do with how a person thinks, views, and processes information rather than their ability to draw or paint well.
6. WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CREATIVE ARCHITECT AND IS CREATIVITY EVER LIMITED?
It goes without saying that creativity lives in ARCHITECTURE. It’s a freeing field that allows the mind to go wild and bring ideas to life. Architecture students might be inclined towards becoming architects because of the nature of the practice. However, how true does that hold when faced with reality?
Stay creative and see you all next week!
