Amsterdam is a water city. This design starts with the water culture related to the site and puts forward the concept of “Amsterdam Floating 2050”.
Site analysis:
Amsterdam is a city linked by water, with a large number of water related activities and iconic spatial landscapes such as “boat house”. Cruise ships are also a mode of transportation in the city. But at the same time, it is also facing problems such as sea level rise.
Concept:
Inspired by the traditional boat house, this scheme puts forward the “Amsterdam Floating 2050” concept to deal with the problems of rising sea level, insufficient public space and inflexible public space. Modular floating units are used to provide the most basic space units. At the same time, these units can be arbitrarily combined into different types of public space. These modules are connected with the world and people through modern scientific and technological means such as network, artificial intelligence and big data to form an intelligent, flexible and efficient community public space system.
Module unit:
The three basic modules are outdoor green park module, infrastructure module (bathroom and public toilet) and indoor space module. The module has an automatic driving system. Users can operate through the intelligent terminal to make these three basic modules combined in different ways, thus generating different types of space for different activities, such as Creative Market, Water Concert, Public Baths, Water Party etc.
4. Vision: “Amsterdam Floating 2050” liberated land space and created a new model of community shared space. People can use this space flexibly through their mobile phones and other devices. Users can control the location and combination of units to meet their own activity needs.

Amsterdam Floating 2050 taps on the poetic of Amsterdam’s boathouse, water transportation, floating house, leaping forward to autonomous floating land propeller, stretching water borne urbanism.
