Streets should be a place that supports public life. In Indonesia, cars dominate streets, but it is necessary to prioritize humans as the main users of a street. However, this change cannot occur directly. Instead, there should be an adjustment to change the perspective of the street and shift the people’s behavior in the streets in a sustainable manner. The solution for this is a shared street where cars and pedestrians can move around together in one street by narrowing the road for cars and providing extensive pedestrian paths. In addition, to limit the movement of cars or other motorized vehicles, zigzag roads are made so that the vehicles can have a low speed and it is not dangerous for people.
With the development of technology, technology should be able to support activities on the road that can be integrated through applications. It can be done in 4 ways:
- Utilization of piezoelectric energy from pedestrian steps.
- Flexibility of lockable modular public furniture that can be moved as needed.
- Utilization of smart tiles that can collect public life data.
- Spatio-temporal street so that it can be used all day.
