-HONOURABLE MENTION of Archi-Hack: Oil Platform Competition
People are afraid of death and being forgotten by our loved ones. The cemetery is not for the dead, but for the living. The demand for commemorative space is gradually increasing with the aging era. At the same time , with the development of industry and the depletion of energy, many oil platforms have been abandoned, and the giant industrial relics have been gradually forgotten in the ocean. They are also the dead of the post-industrial era.
This design transform the oil platform combine with the cemetery. Some energy infrastructure is forgotten here, and in the future, more people will be buried here.
A lighthouse built with light is added to the upper part of the platform. The white light presents a huge traditional pagoda on the sea , which has a strong sense of landmark and commemoration.
The undersea part is composed of a circular corridor, which is the cemetery. People enter below the sea surface through the huge elevator in the middle, and light up the units of condolences through lights. Under the sea surface, the light brings up a sad thought, being forgotten is the real death, and at this moment, everything becomes an instant eternity.
