Like a theater stage, the Biomillennium Mills opens its curtains to let us discover the different processes of vertical cultures that revolve around a central core.
From top to bottom :
The roof is used for cereal cultivation. Then we find the floors dedicated to insects, powered by the wind turbine. Different insects are used for human food or for crops. Here the central space serves as a niche for biodiversity. It also makes it possible to refresh the spaces of cultures.
Further down, several types of aquaponics allow you to grow a lot of vegetables and fruits. The water of the Thames goes up by the central space and allows the functioning of these cultures.
The ground floor is partly open to the public with a hyperlocal market. The other part of the building is used for the storage and shipment of commodities across the City of London.
