Pixel Biomes is a project that seeks to incorporate biomes from other regions of the world in order to mix knowledge, species, fruits, biodiversity and cultures in a single site, therefore reducing the environmental impact of exports and imports, this enables to generate circular economy by producing and consuming different types of crops, the community is in charge of maintaining the farm production.
Typologically the intervention is located on top of the old Millennium Mills factory in order not to add built-up area to the city, but to provide it with an already existing footprint. Given that the structure of the factory is made of concrete porticos, the new buildings lean on the axes to achieve structural continuity with square section steel elements.
Compositionally in the structural grid different biomes are located based on their respective type of vegetation, taiga, desert, tropical forest and grasslands, the color of each module responds to the type of biome.
In addition, the second building purpose is to provide a space for planting large-scale hydroponic crops. Inside the factory subtractions are made to provide green spaces and uses for the reinforcement of the community and composting and recycling centers.
