Seoul, the MEGACITY
Seoul is one of the megacities in the world. Population of 10 million, and has more than area of 600 square kilometers.
So, it is very important to decide an accommodation’s location in Seoul to travel around several tour spots. Due to these tour spots are spread out across the city, tourists need to make a choice between expensive accommodations in the city central or cheaper accommodations in out of central and spend more time to get spots on the opposite side.
Seoul’s subway system is well established and it connects here and there of wide city.
Seoul is one of the cities that has great public transport infrastructure, especially metro. 9 main lines and 9 sub lines cover up whole Seoul and nearby cities. Among 18 lines, the No.2 green line is the only circle line train. This line circulates almost every district of Seoul and stops at many tour spots, transporting million people every day in average.
Due to these characteristics of Seoul and great subway system, we decided to insert an accommodation facility in subway system for travelers in order to reach various tour spots with few steps, just like opening space portal in video game.
Also Seoul is an energetic city that has exciting night life, but subway runs from 5 in the morning to midnight. This means there are no other choices to move around city except taking a short-range night bus or a taxi. So this accommodation facility combined with subway line function as night public transport system and moving hostel. Additionally, in the segments that come out overground, operate moving ‘Special night-life train’ contains such programs as night club, midnight restaurant, customer lounge. With this metro hostel, travelers, especially backpackers, can use this facility as not only accommodation but also transportation with low cost.
