The Kunsthal in Rotterdam transforms the two large exhibition rooms into a space of relation to the body. The program for this new place includes the following activities:
a swim lane, a diving pool, a gymnastic rings space, a “high jump” space, a “tumbling” space, a bar and a cloakroom. The place is planned for an occupation of 20 people.
Activities must be contained in the existing volume, floors / ceilings can be drilled. Support points and access are retained.
My project is based on traffic, a route is created to move from activities to activities. The keywords of the project are linearity and regularity.
The whole project works on light games, level games and visual games between levels and activities. Some examples:
A slope allows entry into the dive basin, this one extends to level 0. Made of transparent glass it gives an atmosphere and games of light. The gymnast rings play on all floors, one can play on the height of the rings. So they are visible to the spectator from all levels.
