The “Gyrasium”
The sport, if it becomes more democratic at present is still too much bound to the construction of mono-functional and expensive equipment.
The place of the sports practice must be open to the maximum, reachable for all and be lived as a real public place. We must be able to be invited to browse these places without having the feeling to have to do sport or a sport in particular. We can also borrow these places to have fun, or spend a moment.
At the same time it is difficult to find plots of land still free in our contemporary cities. The gyrating crossroads with this archetypal form punctuates cities and suburbs. There are among 30 000 in France, and present an interesting reserve of space.
The figure of the gyrating crossroads by its clear, radical and recognizable shape constitutes a major asset as much as by its island status, which trains a protected place, but really integrated into the town planning.
The multi-functional playground, and the set up simple furniture, promote traditional sports, but will have to propose and stimulate many other practices.
The “Gyrasium” relaying on a concept may be applied in numerous places.
