The last events force us to rethink our lifestyle. The scenario where the periods of quarantine last, brings forward the new constraints.
The [Home]pen space is the 20x20m housing block that can be imagined everywhere. It comprises 5 floors, 19 dwellings and can lodge from 40 to 47 residents. The typical floor includes 4 dwellings: 2 student’s/senior’s units of 40 sqm, and 2 family/flat sharing dwellings of 95 sqm. To guarantee good ventilation, the family dwellings are crossing. Also, everyone benefits from 5 to 9 sqm of exterior space.
On the ground floor, the Shared Market Box is imagined to offer a trade-space. The trader changes every day. So, all habitants can buy the fruits Monday and the fish Tuesday without leaving their residence.
Every dwelling owns a Moving-Wall system: M-Walls (1-2 by unit): can be close/open any moment of the day for create a flexible workstation, children’s playroom, fitness area or to isolate contaminated person. The self-isolation makes disappear the standardisation of home and changes our habits: to eat in the bed or organize the work station in the kitchen can be normal now. The idea is to propose a collection of living spaces to appropriate, to predict unpredictable.
