“We Bubble Together” housing block aims to provide an innovative and adaptable work-from-home and social lifestyle responding to immediate and future housing needs during the quarantine.
Social interaction is the core focus of our design. Young workers are our target group. Our methodology is to bring everyone’s social distancing “bubble” together through physical “bubbles” which facilitate safe social interaction as well as amenity spaces.
Various types of units are developed specifically for the work-from-home lifestyle. “Social” part (e.g. kitchen and work station) of the unit layout is put adjacent to the exterior corridor with floor-to-ceiling windows, to engage visual connections between neighbors. The stacking of lofts generates patio space for social-distancing outdoor activities.
Each “bubble” has its responsibility. The largest one works as community farming and part of the transit system. The facade facing the internal block is a large screen, used as the community theater and gaming platform. The other “bubbles” are designated as the gym, multi-use room, and snack bar. Residents can check the available spots in each “bubble” easily through the community APP.
Therefore, users have their semi-private outdoor space enjoying movies together, while having “bubbles” and at-grade open space for safe hangouts.
