-FINALIST of SOCIAL DISTANCING HOUSING BLOCK Competition
The design inspiration came from a popular board game, which can be played anywhere, where the goal is to make single wooden pieces work together to build a balanced structure. To make the system work, each point on the same plane depends on the other, but the distance between the pieces remains constant. The game urges a natural propensity of people to make a logical system of equilibrium and mutual aid work. Functionality has simplicity as its essence. If everyone pays attention to making the right move, the structure will work, otherwise it will collapse. Every action on the complex, even minimal, put a strain on the whole system. Its formal development: subtractions and movements of pieces, which, as in the game, generate spaces, suitable for terraces and balconies, ideal spaces to satisfy the need for social distancing and recreation. The pieces give us the possibility of having different configurations. The internal spaces do not need to be modified in terms of their essence, but their arrangement does, according to new needs, such as immediate bathrooms, making sure the user gets sanitized every time he/she returns from the outside. The terraces, balconies and roof gardens become the spaces for social life.
