Water is essential to life. Where do we all find water and what is its role in the life of every single human being? A question that prompted us to think about the importance of even the smallest drop. Nature sustains and moves itself. It prompted us to think about the possibility of producing a source of life – water. We designed a self-sustaining facility that uses plants to produce water. In the event of a global water shortage, the facility would be located next to human habitation. It would work by adding a layer of coal to the perlite layer and then a layer of high quality earth. Plants are planted and then watered. On it is placed a glazed pyramid that lets in enough but not too much sunlight to avoid the greenhouse effect. Plants thus condense and create more water than they need. This excess is collected, filtered and distributed to people.
