Are we running out of clean water? At the planetary scale, we can’t run out of water thanks to the water cycle. But most of the water is inaccessible to the people because 97% of it is saltwater, 2% are from the glaciers and only 1% left is shared among all the living creatures on earth. And among this precious 1% of water, 92% of it surprisingly consume by a single industry, which is agriculture.
In this project, our team tried to use the most low-cost way to create blue opportunities for the people and at the same time feed the thirst of the agriculture. Mesh nets and bamboo stems are used to create fog catchers that harvest fresh waters from the fog. Although the water harvested is undrinkable, but it is crucial for agriculture and household usage in places where people can hardly get water in their daily life. With low constructing cost of the nets, it can collect up to 100 liters of water per day for irrigating the crops and also bring hopes to the outskirts communities.
