Center Pompidou, as one of the best known inside-out buildings allows the building’s services systems to be expressed. Pipes, elevators and structural members become visualized elements on the building facade rather than hidden away in walls or concrete cores. And by doing this it creates vast, flexible spaces on the inside.

I see it as the beating heart of Paris sitting in the center of the city. The color coding and the bold expressing of building service system remind me of the blood vessels of human body as they keep the whole building alive and breathing. 

This building is the heart of art. It is a place where the exchanging of idea happens. It brings in people, ideas and keep art alive. It is breathing, and it is living, pumping the “blood” of art and life like a beating heart.
