“Childhood is a blessed time. In a most unreligious way that’s the time man, or maybe boys and girls, are holy. Holy, wrapped up in a shining light, living for all the sensations that are surrounding us, air that we breathe, rain when we are in our shelter at home, gravity when we fall and we bleed, this intense vibration of being a human being. There is no barriers, nothing to hold us to absorb completely those sensations. Like clay we are mold by the elements, step by step it defines us in an absolute way, to be in the end the more absolute being we’ll ever be. Until this clay begin to turn to something harder, maybe colder, something like stone for some or in a beautiful mater of steel close to a shining silver for others.

But children are no fools, the amazing light which shines above them is not blinding them, on the contrary it gives them a vision. And because of that they include adults in their world, understanding in their own way the fear, the problems, the anguish but also the love which consume them. So they include them as background, statues creating a hall other dimension in their own. And each time children come back to school, they confront their world, the one of the big fields, the speed of life and the harmony of each living thing with the one of objects, concrete and order. That is the most beautiful thing : childhood. But the most interesting is what follows : adolescence. The turning point, the quick – but at the same time so long – moment of falling into the new world. Still being a child but beginning to act in a much more organised, factual and superficial society. Child trying to juggle with all that things, with all their own feelings, all the sensations they packed up in their backpack during all those years. How can’t this be a mess?

That’s what I’m trying to say and to share with my work, turning my head over my shoulders, looking back with the few of distance I can have, the more feeling I can feel but with all the thinking and pens I have now. Little characters for big ideas. And I hope I’ll never be over with that stuff, because I think we’ll all never be.”
