At the time in which we are subjected to the invitation of isolation, especially under the current social distancing regulations, socialization is at risk. People’s true identity has been pulled back behind the media screen and developed a digitized relationship, raising the questions, is the digital-self your true self? Is cyber relationship real? It is clear that the domestic living and socializing prototype should be redefined. In response, a new home scape – INSCAPE – is designed to reflect upon the challenge between true identity and social relationships.
In our Neo-Unité Community, habitants get a matched housing unit based on their personality. While we provide intimate, personal space to be alone, a screen – act as a scape – serves to communicate and exchange emotions anonymously. This Instagramal screen is an interface between co-habitants. Acting and reacting on both sides of the screen could create unexpected relationships – no matter whether you want to reveal yourself or not.
Traditional home scape keeps changing in this liminal time – a place of transition – we wish to bring back communal and spiritual care while preserving the most possible personality and individualism. Through inventing INSCAPE, love and care could be unleashed through both virtual and reality.
