We are gathered here today (in-person) to witness the union…to celebrate the life of…
to dance…to listen…to be together…
Being “In the Loop” is not a live-streamed event that requires internet access or a cell phone. We gather in person to ensure equal ability to participate. In doing so, we cease needing to supplement our customs with web-chat friendly processes that are experienced in a different dimension removed from the authentic source.
This project is explored through the lens of Minneapolis, Minnesota, providing a template for the generation of public celebration spaces in urban areas. Existing accessibility to gathering areas and community reliance on public space is mapped to identify areas that would benefit most immediately. Gondola gathering rooms tessellate to celebrate in (CDC / WHO approved) style.
While public space is the first typology to be weary of during a global pandemic, the necessity to gather in person to commemorate milestones and celebrate all the ways humans can bring joy to one another is essential for the mental health and bond of communities.
