-HONOURABLE MENTION of FUTURE PUBLIC SPACE Competition
Nowadays cities are growing at an exponential rate, however we cannot deny that there is a global trend of people choosing to migrate to quieter smaller-scale settlements. Over the past year in part due to the pandemic and general technological development these numbers have increased dramatically. Plenty of companies give their employees the ability to work from home, so the choice to move to a quieter and more low-priced area is much easier to achieve. Smaller towns offer tranquility, a sense of community and a better connection to nature, nevertheless they usually do not provide enough activities and entertainment for their citizens.
The Nomadic Joy would offer a solution which is inspired by the nostalgia of traveling circuses and markets, a nomadic public space which connects different communities. It is a malleable inflatable multifunctional object, easily constructed, which could be adapted to any small town’s square, regenerating it as an exciting experience for people of different generations.
