-FINALIST of FUTURE PUBLIC SPACE Competition
In a world of continuous expansion and densification, cities are facing a process of saturation of spaces to deal with overcrowding due to the migration of people from the countryside to the city. The question is: what will happen to public space in the densifying city? In this scenario, public space will have to be able to adapt to the metamorphosis of urbanization while addressing the ever-increasing need for sustainable approaches. For this reason, public space is conceived as a light, independent structure that can be located in every fragment of the city. These are spaces freely managed by the users, outside of any form of authoritarian and imposing control. In these places is promoted intergenerational education for the preservation of ecosystems and a marked awareness of the Green Economy. The project provides self-powered pneumatic structures, completely isolated from the outside, where it is possible to create microclimates suitable for bodily well-being and social interaction. Inside them are hosted real active air bubbles to escape the feverish city of consumption. The preservation of different microclimates is a new essential condition of the public space of the future.
