– FINALIST of REVIVING MINES: SHANDONG PARK Competition
In the process of conquering the environment, humans inevitably transform or destroy it. The delicate balance between the world of civilization and wilderness often crumbles beyond repair. The nesting project offers a new approach to active healing of wounds inflicted by humans on nature.
Above the territory devastated by coal mining, a comfortable eco-friendly hotel rises on pillars that have minimal contact with the territory and are saturated with various functios that attract both tourists and local residents. The complex is spreading over the valley, a person can only get into it from certain points on the periphery .On the profit from the hotel business, trees are being planted on the territory, the ecosystem is gradually being restored. Endangered species of animals are artificially placed in the healing forests and the former production area turns first into a park, and then into a reserve. A place where human intervention is minimized and limited to outside observation of how nature takes its course.
