When we rethink the parking lot’s concrete surface, we could think about how negative and dull a feeling it brings to us when we enter and leave the space every day. How about changing it to be a playground runway and add some nets inside to hold a small scale exercise activity? In the future, the exhaust pollution may be solved but how to bring the new fresh air into the grey space to make it more valuable? We could reconnect it into our sustainable lifestyle, and in the future, it could even be a successful public space dispersing in the whole city.
We want to activate these negative public spaces with resilient infrastructure, providing unified but multifunctional zero-emission units to offer electric vehicle charging, bike parking safe booths, and bio-heating power generation devices. Thus many social behaviors could be brought up, like free markets, public toilets, cafe hubs, and most importantly, electricity charging by solar energy and floor heating by the biological compost system. We also want it to be a public playground with asphalt paving and some basketball boards.
If we change the ordinary little place,then we may change our attitude towards a sustainable future.
