LAYING NEW TRACKS IN THE DESERT
Hyper – extreme, speed and movement;
Loop – connections, linkages and relationships.
Enter the Launch/Strip – Hyperloop Terminal and Research Campus, Nevada, USA. A cutting-edge transportation hub, it envisions a living-laboratory environment, beyond being a transitional transportation hub, it is a launchpad for new technological advancement in response to paradigm shifts in urbanism and mobility.
The proposal interrogates a new form of transit-oriented development, one that promotes a symbiotic relationship between the hyperloop transportation and campus living.
Visible from afar with its monumental entrance, a strong axis determined by the Hyperloop platforms and tubes forms the ordering principle, from which the facility and its functions are intuitively organized around through a series of networks and nodes.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
The dominant lines of the Hyperloop tubes bifurcate the facility into two, allowing people to make a distinction between public and private; and also live, work and play areas.
- Creating Playfields Of Mobility
- Phased Growth By Modular Urbanism
- Dynamic Connectivity & Place-Making
- Closed-Loop Energy System
LAUNCHPAD BY DAY, THEME PARK BY NIGHT
The Hyperloop Terminal and Research Campus harbours a two-faced identity.
By day, it is a sober hyperloop terminal hub and research facility, efficient and streamlined, with the evident focus on the Hyperloop transport and research.
By night, it dons a different mask – it celebrates competition and showmanship, by hosting tech events such as drone racing and tech reality programs in its arenas.
Project Type: Hyperloop Terminal and Research Campus
