In response to the suspension of the L-train of the New York City subway system, the design team proposes a series of mixed-use development in the city’s most diverse and decentralized borough, Brooklyn, to nurture and celebrate its multi-faceted urban character. The phased proposal features new facilities and urban spaces incorporating existing train stations and other unique elements at three critical locations along the train route. Together the three sites will form an assertive visual image, “a string of pearls,” across the vast topography of Brooklyn.
