Paintings have always been considered as an act of therapy. Paintings don’t require form, space and order. No Rules. No regrets. Like John Maeda said “Art is a question to a problem, design is a solution to a problem” . Yet art is contextually limited .Design is not.
I Think architecture is more like a painting ,a sacred space for speculation and imagination. So how can we create a space with our imagination , delusion, creativity with the ever changing growing generation?
My project is based on the study of one such painting of Max Ernst , The fascinating Cypress . I studied that the painter’s temporal spatial dimensions and its projection in comparison to reality is different. Using the similar idea I tried to imagine the effects of this fascination of visual vernacular into the project.
The city of Thaumaturgy- Where nothing is perceived to be real but somehow one can imagine himself being fascinated to visit this miracle of a place. A place where all your dreams and thoughts are stored. A physical memory. A story to be unlocked only by the ones it belongs to, creating a symbiotic relationship with its visitor.
